Online Dog Training

Because we are experiencing such in interest by owners wishing to train their own dogs we are introducing two of what we hope to be many Goldstar On-Line Dog Training Courses. Please call for details (702-612-7106). You will need the following to participate:

This first course is titled: Basic Training For The Service/Assistance/Companion Dog. It consists of instruction in teaching the basic commands, “heel on lead, sit, down, stay, and recall”. However, since service dogs are held to a much higher standard of training than are regular pets, there is an emphasis on handler/dog teamwork and problem avoidance and elimination. The cost for this class: $300.00. For those that register or have previously registered a dog with us the cost is $250.00, a $50.00 saving.

The online Basic Training Course includes the following:

*Training Manual*

The training manual covers techniques used for getting and maintaining optimum performance obedience for your service dog as far as public access is concerned. There is a chapter on the proper use of corrections, proper use of training collars, and there is even a training log which you may utilize to chart your dog’s progress.

*DVD titled “Training the Service Dog for Public Access”*

The Training for Public Access DVD is the heart of this course. It is the visual side of the manual. The training techniques are easily seen and the dialogue is straight forward and direct. Dogs that have absolutely no training are taken from step A, to step B, to step C, etc.

*DVD titled “AKC Canine Good Citizenship Test Simulation”

This DVD, a simulation of an AKC test that is given nationwide is a good way to gauge your dog’s skill level. We use this test here at Goldstar as sort of a guideline for minimum standards of behavior. Easy to understand, with narration throughout, this DVD will have value for you.

*90 Minutes of Internet Airtime*

Use the internet airtime at your convenience. You set the airtime appointment at your leisure. By webcam you may discuss training issues, have your training techniques critiqued, have behavioral questions answered, etc.

The second of our online courses is titled: 3 Step Retrieval Training. It consists of instruction in how to teach your dog to pick up and retrieve dropped items such as cell phones, remotes, keys, etc. The techniques included may be used for all breeds, large or small. The cost for this class: $225.00. For those that register or have previously registered a dog with us the cost is $175.00, a $50.00 saving.

The online 3 Step Retrieval Training Course includes the following:

*Training Manual*

The training manual covers the written techniques you will use to get your dog to complete the 3 steps to consistent retrievals...accepting objects from your hand, holding objects without chewing or mouthing, and retrieving objects from the ground or table. There is a training log included whereby you may chart your progress.

*DVD titled “3 Step Retrieval Training”

This instructional DVD shows in great detail steps and training procedures which may be used to teach your dog to consistently retrieve. Metal, wood, plastic, leather, it does not matter. There is narration throughout that is precise and direct.

*90 Minutes of Internet Airtime*
